About Noshi

Generally speaking, when referring to a gift wrapping, it refers to abalone wrapped in a noshi.
Wrap the box in noshi paper or hosho paper and tie it in place with mizuhiki or obi paper.
It can be considered a form of traditional Japanese gift wrapping.
A ribbon is fine for casual gifts, but for gifts on formal occasions, it is more polite and looks nicer to attach a noshi.
Abalone has been highly valued since ancient times and has been regarded as sacred, making it a prized gift for celebrations and other special occasions.
This is said to originate from the custom of cutting abalone meat into thin, long slices, stretching it, drying it, using it as an appetizer at ceremonies, and then attaching it to gifts (this accompaniment was called noshi abalone).
The word noshi itself means to stretch something thin and long.
The noshi wrapping used today was created based on this abalone motif.

◎Toya will write gift tags free of charge.

If you would like a gift tag, please write it in the "Notes" field when placing your order in the cart and entering your shipping settings.
Please be sure to fill in the following: ・Inscription ・Name ・Inner/outer wrapping
[Example 1 ⇒ ・Wedding gift・Toya Yamada・Request for gift wrapping]

*However, customers who would like Mizuhiki will be charged an additional 220 yen (tax included) per piece (330 yen (tax included) for gold and silver Mizuhiki only).
*Basically, the characters are carefully written by hand, but if there are multiple characters, we will copy the handwritten ones. Also, it is customary to write characters in dark ink for auspicious occasions and in light ink for Buddhist occasions.
*In order to prevent damage or dirt during delivery, we will generally use an inner gift wrapping unless you have a specific request. If you would like an outer gift wrapping, please indicate this in the comments section when placing your order in the cart and entering your delivery settings.
*When sending a "nai-iwai" (celebration gift) in return for a baby gift, it is common to write the sender's name in the "first name of the newborn child." (If the child's name is difficult to read, we can write furigana next to it. Please inquire.)
*Names will be written vertically. If your company or department name is in English (alphabet), it may be easier to read if you can write it in katakana instead.
*In addition to the cosmetic box shown in the photo, we also use paulownia wood boxes.
*If you have any requests other than those listed below or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
