We are holding a workshop where you can enjoy authentic overglaze painting at the Tosai Kyoto studio.
You can challenge yourselves to create original works with your family and friends.
Our staff will assist you so that even first-timers can easily participate.

It's a small-group, at-home atmosphere.

Overglaze painting experience flow
1. Choose your plate blank
Please choose your preferred plate from the 5 sun / approx. 15cm (left image) or 6 sun / approx. 18.5cm (right image) blanks.
*If you wish to paint two or more plates, you can do so at the additional cost below.
・5 sun plate: 5,500 yen
・6 sun plate: 7,150 yen
2. Choose a design or create an original one
Please choose a design using the paper pattern called "nenshi," or draw any design you like. If you're creating an original design, feel free to consult the pottery in the shop for inspiration or ask our staff for advice.
3. Practice
Using a brush and paint, you will practice on a piece of paper to get a feel for the image before actually painting on the vessel.
4. Painting
Now, let's paint on the pottery using glazes.
It's okay to make a few mistakes! Let's have fun!
We will fire your pieces, and they will be mailed to you approximately one month later.

Schedule: Approximately 10 times a month

Time: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM / 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
Please arrive 5 minutes before the start time (we cannot accommodate arrivals earlier than that).
The end time may vary slightly.

Standard Price: Adults: ¥16,500 (tax included) Children (~15 years old): ¥11,000 (tax included)
→Promotional Price until the end of June: ¥8,800 (includes sencha and sweets) *Children included + separate shipping fee
*Price is per person. The promotional price of ¥8,800 will be charged at the time of payment.

Experience fee, rental items for the experience, material cost, firing fee, sencha, sweets.
◼️What you can create
A 5-inch or 6-inch porcelain plate (paint colors are vermilion, green, and blue only).
Your finished work will be mailed to you approximately one month after creation.

Approximately 90-120 minutes (from gathering to dismissal).

◼️Health Conditions
There are no restrictions on participation due to health conditions, but if you have any concerns, please mention them in the remarks section when applying. A staff member will respond to you.
Please note that the experience takes place on the second floor. Those who have difficulty climbing stairs should refrain from participating.
◼️Attire and What to Bring
Please come dressed in comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. (Aprons and slippers are provided.)
Drinks are not provided during the experience. Please bring your own water if needed.
◼️Photography
You are welcome to take videos and photos during the painting experience, as well as記念 photos. Our staff can also assist you, so please feel free to ask.
◼️Cancellation Fees
・Day before: 50%
・Same day: 100%
・No-show: 100%
As our studio operates by reservation, a 100% cancellation fee of the experience cost will be charged for same-day cancellations or no-shows.
