We are holding a workshop at Toya Kyoto Studio where you can enjoy authentic overglaze painting.
You can try your hand at creating your own unique piece of art together with your family and friends.
Even beginners are welcome to try it out, so please enjoy the painting experience at Toya as a memory of your trip to Kyoto.

Flow of the painting experience
1. Choose your substrate
Please choose your favorite plate from the 6 sun/approximately 18.5 cm (left image) and 7 sun/approximately 21 cm (right image) base plates.
*If you would like to draw two or more images, we can make them for you at an additional charge as shown below.

2. Think about the design
You can choose to either draw your favorite design or use a stencil called nenshi to draw the design. It will go more smoothly if you have a design in mind beforehand.
3. Practice
We will practice brush painting on Japanese paper using brushes and paints.
4. Make a guess
Using a special pencil or paper, draw a rough outline of the design onto the plate.
5. Painting
Let's actually use paint to paint on the vessel.
The product will be baked at our store and delivered by mail approximately one month later.

About the experience fee and overview
◾️Date and time
Location: Toya Kyoto Studio, 538-4 Gojobashi Higashi 6-chome, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture
Schedule: Approximately six times per month (*Please check the reservation form below or the announcement page for detailed schedules.)
Time: Morning session 10:30-12:00 / Afternoon session 14:00-15:30
*Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time. The end time may vary slightly.

◼️Prices
Basic fee: 16,500 yen (including tea and snacks) + shipping (all tax included)
*Price is per person.
◼️What is included in the basic fee
Experience fee, rental items, dough fee, baking fee, instruction fee, tea and snacks fee
◼️What you can make: A 6-inch or 7-inch porcelain or ceramic plate (only vermilion, green, and blue paints allowed)
After the work is created, it will be delivered by mail approximately one month later.
◼️Experience time : approximately 90-120 minutes (from meeting to dismissal)

◼️Participation requirements: Ages 8 and up (please inquire each time)
◼️ Health Conditions There are no restrictions on participation due to health conditions, but if you have any concerns, please write them in the comments section when applying. A member of staff will respond to you.
Please note that the experience will be on the second floor, and you will need to climb stairs, so please refrain from participating if you have difficulty with stairs.
◼️About clothing and belongings
Please wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. (We will provide aprons.)
